1These are the generations of the sons of Noe: Sem, Cham, and Japheth: and unto them sons were born after the flood.
1This is the account of Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, who also had sons after the flood.
2The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Thubal, and Mosoch, and Thiras.
2The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3And the sons of Gomer: Ascenez and Riphath and Thogorma.
3The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4And the sons of Javan: Elisa and Tharsis, Cetthim and Dodanim.
4And the sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites, and the Rodanites.
5By these were divided the islands of the Gentiles in their lands, every one according to his tongue and their families in their nations.
5From these, the maritime peoples separated into their territories, according to their languages, by clans within their nations.
6And the sons of Cham: Chus, and Mesram, and Phuth, and Chanaan.
6The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
7And the sons of Chus: Saba, and Hevila, and Sabatha, and Regma, and Sabatacha. The sons of Regma: Saba and Dadan.
7The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
8Now Chus begot Nemrod: he began to be mighty on the earth.
8Cush was the father of Nimrod, who began to be a mighty one on the earth.
9And he was a stout hunter before the Lord. Hence came a proverb: Even as Nemrod the stout hunter before the Lord.
9He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; so it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.”
10And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Arach, and Achad, and Chalanne in the land of Sennaar.
10His kingdom began in Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11Out of that land came forth Assur, and built Ninive, and the streets of the city, and Chale.
11From that land he went forth into Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12Resen also between Ninive and Chale: this is the great city.
12and Resen, which is between Nineveh and the great city of Calah.
13And Mesraim begot Ludim, and Anamim, and Laabim, Nepthuim,
13Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, the Anamites, the Lehabites, the Naphtuhites,
14And Phetrusim, and Chasluim; of whom came forth the Philistines, and the Capthorim.
14the Pathrusites, the Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came), and the Caphtorites.
15And Chanaan begot Sidon, his firstborn, the Hethite,
15And Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites,
16And the Jebusite, and the Amorrhite, and the Gergesite,
16the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,
17The Hevite and the Aracite: the Sinite,
17the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,
18And the Aradian, the Samarite, and the Hamathite: and afterwards the families of the Chanaanites were spread abroad.
18the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans were scattered,
19And the limits of Chanaan were from Sidon as one comes to Gerara even to Gaza, until thou enter Sodom and Gomorrha, and Adama, and Seboim even to Lesa.
19and the borders of Canaan extended from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.
20These are the children of Cham in their kindreds, and tongues, and generations, and lands, and nations.
20These are the sons of Ham according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.
21Of Sem also, the father of all the children of Heber, the elder brother of Japheth, sons were born.
21And sons were also born to Shem, the older brother of Japheth; Shem was the forefather of all the sons of Eber.
22The sons of Sem: Elam and Assur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
22The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23The sons of Aram: Us and Hull, and Gether, and Mess.
23The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24But Arphaxad begot Sale, of whom was born Heber.
24Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.
25And to Heber were born two sons: the name of the one was Phaleg, because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother’s name Jectan.
25Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided, and his brother was named Joktan.
26Which Jectan begot Elmodad, and Saleph, and Asarmoth, Jare,
26And Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27And Aduram, and Uzal, and Decla,
27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28And Ebal, and Abimael, Saba,
28Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29And Ophir, and Hevila, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Jectan.
29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.
30And their dwelling was from Messa as we go on as far as Sephar, a mountain in the east.
30Their territory extended from Mesha to Sephar, in the eastern hill country.
31These are the children of Sem according to their kindreds and tongues, and countries in their nations.
31These are the sons of Shem, according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.
32These are the families of Noe, according to their peoples and nations. By these were the nations divided on the earth after the flood.
32All these are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their generations and nations. From these the nations of the earth spread out after the flood.
