1Woe to you that are wealthy in Sion, and to you that have confidence in the mountain of Samaria: ye great men, heads of the people, that go in with state into the house of Israel.
1Ai dos que vivem tranquilos em Sião, e dos que se sentem seguros no monte de Samaria, os homens notáveis da principal das nações, a quem a casa de Israel recorre!
2Pass ye over to Chalane, and see, and go from thence into Emath the great: and go down into Geth of the Philistines, and to all the best kingdoms of these: if their border be larger than your border.
2Vão a Calné, e vejam. De lá, vão à grande Hamate. Depois desçam a Gate dos filisteus. São eles melhores do que estes reinos? O território deles é maior do que o território de vocês?
3You that are separated unto the evil day: and that approach to the throne of iniquity;
3Ai de vocês que afastam o dia mau, e fazem chegar perto o trono da violência,
4You that sleep upon beds of ivory, and are wanton on your couches: that eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the herd;
4que se deitam em camas de marfim, e se espreguiçam em seus leitos, e comem os cordeiros do rebanho, e os bezerros do meio do estábulo,
5You that sing to the sound of the psaltery: they have thought themselves to have instruments of music like David;
5que dedilham as cordas da harpa, que inventam para si mesmos instrumentos musicais, como Davi;
6That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best ointments: and they are not concerned for the affliction of Joseph.
6que bebem vinho em bacias, e se ungem com os melhores óleos, mas não se entristecem com a aflição de José.
7Wherefore now they shall go captive at the head of them that go into captivity: and the faction of the luxurious ones shall be taken away.
7Portanto, agora eles irão cativos com os primeiros que forem levados cativos. O banquete e o ócio acabarão.
8The Lord God hath sworn by his own soul, saith the Lord the God of hosts: I detest the pride of Jacob, and I hate his houses, and I will deliver up the city with the inhabitants thereof.
8“O Senhor DEUS jurou por si mesmo”, diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos Exércitos: “Eu abomino o orgulho de Jacó, e detesto as suas fortalezas. Portanto, entregarei a cidade com tudo o que nela há.”
9And if there remain ten men in one house, they also shall die.
9Acontecerá que, se restarem dez homens em uma única casa, eles morrerão.
10And a man’s kinsman shall take him up, and shall burn him, that he may carry the bones out of the house; and he shall say to him that is in the inner rooms of the house: Is there yet any with thee?
10“Quando o parente de um homem o carregar, aquele mesmo que o queima, para tirar os corpos de dentro da casa, e perguntar àquele que está no interior da casa: 'Ainda há alguém com você?' E ele disser: 'Não'; então ele dirá: 'Cale-se! Pois não devemos mencionar o nome do SENHOR.'
11And he shall answer: There is an end. And he shall any to him: Hold thy peace, and mention not the name of the Lord.
11“Pois, eis que o SENHOR ordena, e a casa grande será despedaçada, e a casa pequena, em pedaços.
12For behold the Lord hath commanded, and he will strike the greater house with breaches, and the lesser house with clefts.
12Acaso correm os cavalos sobre os rochedos? Ou se ara ali com bois? Mas vocês transformaram a justiça em veneno, e o fruto da retidão em amargura,
13Can horses run upon the rocks, or can any one plough with buffles? for you have turned judgment into bitterness, and the fruit of justice into wormwood.
13vocês que se alegram com uma coisa de nada, que dizem: 'Não tomamos para nós chifres pela nossa própria força?'
14You that rejoice in a thing of nought: you that say: Have we not taken unto us horns by our own strength?
14Pois, eis que levantarei contra vocês uma nação, ó casa de Israel”, diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos Exércitos; “e eles os afligirão desde a entrada de Hamate até o ribeiro da Arabá.”
15But behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall destroy you from the entrance of Emath, even to the torrent of the desert.
