1In the third year of Osee the son of Ela king of Israel, reigned Ezechias the son of Achaz king of Juda.
1以色列 王 以拉 的儿子 何细亚 第三年， 犹大 王 亚哈斯 的儿子 希西家 登基。
2He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign: and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Abi the daughter of Zacharias.
2他登基的时候年二十五岁，在 耶路撒冷 作王二十九年。他母亲名叫 亚比 ，是 撒迦利雅 的女儿。
3And he did that which was good before the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.
3希西家 行耶和华眼中看为正的事，效法他祖 大卫 一切所行的。
4He destroyed the high places, and broke the statues in pieces, and cut down the groves, and broke the brazen serpent, which Moses had made: for till that time the children of Israel burnt incense to it: and he called its name Nohestan.
4他废去邱坛，毁坏柱像，砍下木偶，打碎 摩西 所造的铜蛇，因为到那时 以色列 人仍向铜蛇烧香。 希西家 叫铜蛇为铜块。
5He trusted in the Lord the God of Israel: so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Juda, nor any of them that were before him:
5希西家 倚靠耶和华— 以色列 的 神，在他前后的 犹大 列王中没有一个及他的。
6And he stuck to the Lord, and departed not from his steps, but kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses.
6因为他专靠耶和华，总不离开，谨守耶和华所吩咐 摩西 的诫命。
7Wherefore the Lord also was with him, and in all things, to which he went forth, he behaved himself wisely. And he rebelled against the king of the Assyrians, and served him not.
7耶和华与他同在，他无论往何处去尽都亨通。他背叛、不肯事奉 亚述 王。
8He smote the Philistines as far as Gaza, and all their borders, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
8希西家 攻击 非利士 人，直到 迦萨 ，并 迦萨 的四境，从了望楼到坚固城。
9In the fourth year of king Ezechias, which was the seventh year of Osee the son of Ela king of Israel, Salmanasar king of the Assyrians came up to Samaria, and besieged it,
9希西家 王第四年，就是 以色列 王 以拉 的儿子 何细亚 第七年， 亚述 王 撒缦以色 上来围困 撒马利亚 ；
10And took it. For after three years, in the sixth year of Ezechias, that is, in the ninth year of Osee king of Israel, Samaria was taken:
10过了三年就攻取了城。 希西家 第六年， 以色列 王 何细亚 第九年， 撒马利亚 被攻取了。
11And the king of the Assyrians carried away Israel into Assyria, and placed them in Hale, and in Habor by the rivers of Gozan in the cities of the Medes:
11亚述 王将 以色列 人掳到 亚述 ，把他们安置在 哈腊 与 歌散 的 哈博河 边，并 米底亚 人的城邑；
12Because they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed his covenant: all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded, they would not hear nor do.
12都因他们不听从耶和华—他们 神的话，违背他的约，就是耶和华仆人 摩西 吩咐他们所当守的。
13In the fourteenth year of king Ezechias, Sennacherib king of the Assyrians came up against the fenced cities of Juda: and took them.
13希西家 王十四年， 亚述 王 西拿基立 上来攻击 犹大 的一切坚固城，将城攻取。
14Then Ezechias king of Juda sent messengers to the king of the Assyrians to Lachis, saying: I have offended, depart from me: and all that thou shalt put upon me, I will bear. And the king of the Assyrians put a tax upon Ezechias king of Juda, of three hundred talents of silver, and thirty talents of gold.
14犹大 王 希西家 差人往 拉吉 去见 亚述 王，说：「我有罪了，求你离开我；凡你罚我的，我必承当。」于是 亚述 王罚 犹大 王 希西家 银子三百他连得，金子三十他连得。
15And Ezechias gave all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the king’s treasures.
15希西家 就把耶和华殿里和王宫府库里所有的银子都给了 他 。
16At that time Ezechias broke the doors of the temple of the Lord, and the plates of gold which he had fastened on them, and gave them to the king of the Assyrians.
16那时， 犹大 王 希西家 将耶和华殿门上的 金子 和他自己包在柱上的 金子 都刮下来，给了 亚述 王。
17And the king of the Assyrians sent Tharthan and Rabsaris, and Rabsaces from Lachis to king Ezechias with a strong army to Jerusalem: and they went up and came to Jerusalem, and they stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the way of the fuller’s field.
17亚述 王从 拉吉 差遣他珥探、拉伯撒利，和拉伯沙基率领大军往 耶路撒冷 ，到 希西家 王那里去。他们上到 耶路撒冷 ，就站在上池的水沟旁，在漂布地的大路上。
18And they called for the king: and there went out to them Eliacim the son of Helcias who was over the house, and Sobna the scribe, and Joahe the son of Asaph the recorder.

19And Rabsaces said to them: Speak to Ezechias: Thus saith the great king, the king of the Assyrians: What is this confidence, wherein thou trustest?
19拉伯沙基说：「你们去告诉 希西家 说， 亚述 大王如此说：『你所倚靠的有什么可仗赖的呢？
20Perhaps thou hast taken counsel, to prepare thyself for battle. On whom dost thou trust, that thou darest to rebel?
20你说有打仗的计谋和能力， 我看 不过是虚话。你到底倚靠谁才背叛我呢？
21Dost thou trust in Egypt a staff of a broken reed, upon which if a man lean, it will break and go into his hand, and pierce it? so is Pharao king of Egypt, to all that trust in him.
21看哪，你所倚靠的 埃及 是那压伤的苇杖；人若靠这杖，就必刺透他的手。 埃及 王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是这样。
22But if you say to me: We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and altars Ezechias hath taken away: and hath commanded Juda and Jerusalem: You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
22你们若对我说：我们倚靠耶和华—我们的 神， 希西家 岂不是将 神的邱坛和祭坛废去，且对 犹大 和 耶路撒冷 的人说：你们当在 耶路撒冷 这坛前敬拜吗？
23Now therefore come over to my master the king of the Assyrians, and I will give you two thousand horses, and see whether you be able to have riders for them.
23现在你把当头给我主 亚述 王，我给你二千匹马，看你这一面骑马的人够不够。
24And how can you stand against one lord of the least of my master’s servants? Dost thou trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
24若不然，怎能打败我主臣仆中最小的军长呢？你竟倚靠 埃及 的战车马兵吗？
25Is it without the will of the Lord that I am come up to this place to destroy it? The Lord said to me: Go up to this land and destroy it.
25现在我上来攻击毁灭这地，岂没有耶和华的意思吗？耶和华吩咐我说：你上去攻击毁灭这地吧！』」
26Then Eliacim the son of Helcias, and Sobna, and Joahe said to Rabsaces: We pray thee speak to us thy servants in Syriac: for we understand that tongue: and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the hearing of the people that are upon the wall.
26希勒家 的儿子 以利亚敬 和 舍伯那 ，并 约亚 ，对拉伯沙基说：「求你用 亚兰 言语和仆人说话，因为我们懂得；不要用 犹大 言语和我们说话，达到城上百姓的耳中。」
27And Rabsaces answered them, saying: Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee, to speak these words, and not rather to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their urine with you?
27拉伯沙基说：「我主差遣我来，岂是单对你和你的主说这些话吗？不也是对这些坐在城上、要与你们一同吃自己粪、喝自己尿的人说吗？」
28Then Rabsaces stood, and cried out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said: Hear the words of the great king, the king of the Assyrians.
28于是拉伯沙基站着，用 犹大 言语大声喊着说：「你们当听 亚述 大王的话！
29Thus saith the king: Let not Ezechias deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of my hand.
29王如此说：『你们不要被 希西家 欺哄了；因他不能救你们脱离我的手。
30Neither let him make you trust in the Lord, saying: The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of the Assyrians.
30也不要听 希西家 使你们倚靠耶和华，说耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在 亚述 王的手中。』
31Do not hearken to Ezechias. For thus saith the king of the Assyrians: Do with me that which is for your advantage, and come out to me: and every man of you shall eat of his own vineyard, and of his own fig tree: and you shall drink water of your own cisterns,
31不要听 希西家 的话！因 亚述 王如此说：『你们要与我和好，出来投降我，各人就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水。
32Till I come, and take you away to a land, like to your own land, a fruitful land, and plentiful in wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olives, and oil and honey, and you shall live, and not die. Hearken not to Ezechias, who deceiveth you, saying: The Lord will deliver us.
32等我来领你们到一个地方与你们本地一样，就是有五谷和新酒之地，有粮食和葡萄园之地，有橄榄树和蜂蜜之地，好使你们存活，不至于死。 希西家 劝导你们，说耶和华必拯救我们；你们不要听他的话。
33Have any of the gods of the nations delivered their land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
33列国的神有哪一个救他本国脱离 亚述 王的手呢？
34Where is the god of Emath, and of Arphad? where is the god of Sepharvaim, of Ana, and of Ava? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
34哈马 、 亚珥拔 的神在哪里呢？ 西法瓦音 、 希拿 、 以瓦 的神在哪里呢？他们曾救 撒马利亚 脱离我的手吗？
35Who are they among all the gods of the nations, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the Lord may deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
35这些国的神有谁曾救自己的国脱离我的手呢？难道耶和华能救 耶路撒冷 脱离我的手吗？』」
36But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for they had received commandment from the king that they should not answer him.
36百姓静默不言，并不回答一句，因为王曾吩咐说：「不要回答他。」
37And Eliacim the son of Helcias, who was over the house, and Sobna the scribe, and Joahe the son of Asaph the recorder, came to Ezechias, with their garments rent, and told him the words of Rabsaces.
37当下， 希勒家 的儿子家宰 以利亚敬 和书记 舍伯那 ，并 亚萨 的儿子史官 约亚 ，都撕裂衣服，来到 希西家 那里，将拉伯沙基的话告诉了他。
