1And Josaphat his son reigned in his stead, and grew strong against Israel.
1Und sein Sohn Josaphat ward König an seiner Statt und ward mächtig wider Israel.
2And he placed numbers of soldiers in all the fortified cities of Juda. And he put garrisons in the land of Juda, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
2Und er legte Kriegsvolk in alle festen Städte Juda's und setzte Amtleute im Lande Juda und in den Städten Ephraims, die sein Vater Asa gewonnen hatte.
3And the Lord was with Josaphat, because he walked in the first ways of David his father: and trusted not in Baalim,
3Und der HERR war mit Josaphat; denn er wandelte in den vorigen Wegen seines Vaters David und suchte nicht die Baalim,
4But in the God of his father, and walk in his commandments, and not according to the sins of Israel.
4sondern den Gott seines Vaters, und wandelte in seinen Geboten und nicht nach den Werken Israels.
5And the Lord established the kingdom in his hand, and all Juda brought presents to Josaphat: and he acquired immense riches, and much glory.
5Darum bestätigte ihm der HERR das Königreich; und ganz Juda gab Josaphat Geschenke, und er hatte Reichtum und Ehre die Menge.
6And when his heart had taken courage for the ways of the Lord, he took away also the high places and the groves out of Juda.
6Und da sein Herz mutig ward in den Wegen des HERRN, tat er fürder ab die Höhen und Ascherabilder aus Juda.
7And in the third year of his reign, he sent of his princes Benhail, and Abdias, and Zacharias, and Nathanael, and Micheas, to teach in the cities of Juda:
7Im dritten Jahr seines Königreichs sandte er seine Fürsten Ben-Hail, Obadja, Sacharja, Nathanael und Michaja, daß sie lehren sollten in den Städten Juda's;
8And with them the Levites, Semeias, and Nathanias, and Zabadias, and Asael, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Thobadonias Levites, and with them Elisama, and Joram priests.
8und mit ihnen die Leviten Semaja, Nethanja, Sebadja, Asael, Semiramoth, Jonathan, Adonia, Tobia und Tob-Adonia; und mit ihnen die Priester Elisama und Joram.
9And they taught the people in Juda, having with them the book of the law of the Lord: and they went about all the cities of Juda, and instructed the people.
9Und sie lehrten in Juda und hatten das Gesetzbuch des HERRN mit sich und zogen umher in allen Städten Juda's und lehrten das Volk.
10And the fear of the Lord came upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Juda, and they durst not make war against Josaphat.
10Und es kam die Furcht des HERRN über alle Königreiche in den Landen, die um Juda her lagen, daß sie nicht stritten wider Josaphat.
11The Philistines also brought presents to Josaphat, and tribute in silver, and the Arabians brought him cattle, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and as many he goats.
11Und die Philister brachten Josaphat Geschenke, eine Last Silber; und die Araber brachten ihm siebentausend und siebenhundert Widder und siebentausend und siebenhundert Böcke.
12And Josaphat grew, and became exceeding great: and he built in Juda houses like towers, and walled cities.
12Also nahm Josaphat zu und ward immer größer; und er baute in Juda Burgen und Kornstädte
13And he prepared many works in the cities of Juda: and he had warriors, and valiant men in Jerusalem.
13und hatte viel Vorrat in den Städten Juda's und streitbare Männer und gewaltige Leute zu Jerusalem.
14Of whom this is the number of the houses and families of every one: in Juda captains of the army, Ednas the chief, and with him three hundred thousand most valiant men.
14Und dies war die Ordnung nach ihren Vaterhäusern: in Juda waren Oberste über tausend: Adna, ein Oberster und mit ihm waren dreihunderttausend gewaltige Männer;
15After him Johanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand.
15Neben ihm war Johanan, der Oberste, und mit ihm waren zweihundertachtzigtausend;
16And after him was Amasias the son of Zechri, consecrated to the Lord, and with him were two hundred thousand valiant men.
16neben ihm war Amasja, der Sohn Sichris, der Freiwillige des HERRN, und mit ihm waren zweihundertausend gewaltige Männer;
17After him was Eliada valiant in battle, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield.
17und von den Kindern Benjamin war Eljada, ein gewaltiger Mann, und mit ihm waren zweihunderttausend, die mit Bogen und Schild gerüstet waren;
18After him also was Jozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready for war.
18neben ihm war Josabad, und mit ihm waren hundertachtzigtausend Gerüstete zum Heer.
19All these were at the hand of the king, beside others, whom he had put in the walled cities, in all Juda.
19Diese dienten alle dem König, außer denen, die der König noch gelegt hatte in die festen Städte im ganzen Juda.
