Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1David loe mae nui hoi angthla kue ahmuen ah caeh naah, khenah, Mephiboseth ih tamna Ziba mah anih to zing; laa hrang pongah phawh ih takaw kae cumvai hnetto, misurthaih kazaek cumvaito, thaiduet thaih kazaek cumvaito hoi misurtui pailang maeto a sinh.
1And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold Siba the servant of Miphiboseth came to meet him with two asses, laden with two hundred loaves of bread, and a hundred bunches of raisins, a hundred cakes of figs, and a vessel of wine.
2Siangpahrang mah Ziba khaeah, Tih hanah hae hmuennawk hae na sin loe? tiah a dueng. Ziba mah, Laa hrangnawk loe siangpahrang imthung takoh kaminawk mah angthueng han ih, takaw hoi misurthaih kazaeknawk loe thendoengnawk mah caak han ih, misurtui loe angpho naah praezaek ah naek han ih kang sinh, tiah a naa.
2And the king said to Siba: What mean these things? And Siba answered: The asses are for the king’s household to sit on: and the loaves and the figs for thy servants to eat, and the wine to drink if any man be faint in the desert.
3To naah siangpahrang mah, Na angraeng capa loe naa ah maw oh? tiah a naa. Ziba mah siangpahrang khaeah, Khenah, vaihniah Israel imthung takoh mah, kampa ukhaih prae na paek o let tih, tiah a poek pongah, Jerusalem ah oh, tiah a naa.
3And the king said: Where is thy master’s son? And Siba answered the king: He remained in Jerusalem, saying: Today will the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.
4To naah siangpahrang mah Ziba khaeah, Mephiboseth ih hmuennawk boih loe nang ih hmuen ah oh boeh, tiah a naa. Ziba mah, Aw ka angraeng, siangpahrang, poek pahnaemhaih hoi na hmaa ah mikcuk naakrak ah ka oh han hmang, tiah a naa.
4And the king said to Siba: I give thee all that belonged to Miphiboseth. And Siba said: I beseech thee let me find grace before thee, my lord, O king.
5David siangpahrang loe Bahurim vangpui ah caeh naah, Saul imthung takoh kami ah kaom, Gera capa Shimei loe angzoh moe, anih to padaeng.
5And king David came as far as Bahurim: and behold there came out from thence a man of the kindred of the house of Saul named Semei, the son of Gera, and coming out he cursed as he went on,
6Anih mah David hoi a tamnanawk boih, anih ih banqoi bantang bangah kaom, kaminawk hoi thacak misatuh kaminawk boih to thlung hoiah vah.
6And he threw stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people, and all the warriors walked on the right, and on the left side of the king.
7Anih mah padaeng naah Shimei mah, Tacawt ah, tacawt ah; nang athii palong koeh kami, kami kasae!
7And thus said Semei when he cursed the king: Come out, come out, thou man of blood, and thou man of Belial.
8Saul ih prae to na lomh moe, anih zuengah siangpahrang ah na oh; anih imthung takoh kaminawk na humhaih athii to Angraeng mah na lu nuiah kraksak let boeh; Angraeng mah na ukhaih prae to na capa Absalom ban ah paek boeh; nang loe athii palong koeh kami ah na oh pongah, na zaehaih na nuiah krak boeh, tiah a naa.
8The Lord hath repaid thee for all the blood of the house of Saul: because thou hast usurped the kingdom in his stead, and the Lord hath given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and behold thy evils press upon thee, because thou art a man of blood.
9To naah Zeruiah capa Abishai mah siangpahrang khaeah, Tipongah hae ui qok mah ka angraeng siangpahrang to padaeng loe? Ka caeh moe, a lu ka takroek han, tiah a naa.
9And Abisai the son of Sarvia said to the king: Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? I will go, and cut off his head.
10Toe siangpahrang mah, Nang Zeruiah capanawk, nangcae hoi kai asaenghaih timaw oh? Anih mah padaeng nasoe; Angraeng mah, David padaeng han thui pae nahaeloe, timaw thui thai tih. Tipongah hae tiah na oh loe? tiah a naa.
10And the king said: What have I to do with you, ye sons of Sarvia? Let him alone and let him curse: for the Lord hath bid him curse David: and who is he that shall dare say, why hath he done so?
11David mah Abishai hoi a tamnanawk boih khaeah, Khenah, kaimah ih athii ngan thung hoi tacawt ka capa mah mataeng doeh ka hinghaih lak hanah pakrong boeh, hae ih Benjamin acaeng mah cae loe kawkrukmaw pakrong tih? Om o taak duem ah; Angraeng mah thuih pae boeh pongah, na padaeng nasoe.
11And the king said to Abisai, and to all his servants: Behold my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now a son of Jemini? let him alone that he may curse as the Lord hath bidden him.
12Angraeng mah patang ka khanghaih to hnu ueloe, vaihniah ang padaeng zuengah kahoih hmuen na paek let tih, tiah a naa.
12Perhaps the Lord may look upon my affliction, and the Lord may render me good for the cursing of this day.
13To pongah David hoi angmah ih kaminawk to caeh o poe; Shimei loe mae taeng ih kalah loklam bangah caeh, lamcaeh noeh noeh, anih to padaeng noeh noeh moe, maiphu hoiah anih to haeh.
13And David and his men with him went by the way. And Semei by the hill’s side went over against him, cursing, and casting stones at him, and scattering earth.
14David hoi anih ih kaminawk boih loe angpho o boeh pongah, to ahmuen phak naah anghak o.
14And the king and all the people with him came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
15To nathuem ah, Absalom hoi Israel kaminawk boih, Jerusalem ah angzoh o; Ahithophel doeh athum toeng.
15But Absalom and all his people came into Jerusalem, and Achitophel was with him.
16To naah David ih ampui, Ark acaeng Hushai loe Absalom khaeah caeh moe, siangpahrang hinglung sawk nasoe, siangpahrang hinglung sawk nasoe, tiah a naa.
16And when Chusai the Arachite, David’s friend, was come to Absalom, he said to him: God save thee, O king, God save thee, O king.
17Absalom mah Hushai to lokdueng, Hae hae nampui khaeah amlunghaih amtuengsak ih lok maw? Tipongah nampui khaeah na caeh ai loe? tiah a naa.
17And Absalom said to him: Is this thy kindness to thy friend? Why wentest thou not with thy friend?
18Hushai mah Absalom khaeah, To tih na ai ni; kai loe Angraeng mah maw, kaminawk boih hoi Israel kaminawk boih mah maw, qoih ih kami khaeah ka oh han; anih khaeah ni ka oh poe han.
18And Chusai answered Absalom: Nay: for I will be his, whom the Lord hath chosen, and all this people, and all Israel, and with him will I abide.
19Kai loe mi ih tok maw ka sak han? A capa ih tok to ka sah mak ai maw? Ampa ih tok ka sak pae baktih toengah, na tok doeh ka sak han, tiah a naa.
19Besides this, whom shall I serve? is it not the king’s son? as I have served thy father, so will I serve thee also.
20Absalom mah Ahithophel khaeah, Timaw a sak o han, tiah poekhaih na paek ah, tiah a naa.
20And Absalom said to Achitophel: Consult what we are to do.
21Ahithophel mah, Siangpahrang im khetzawn hanah nampa mah caeh taak ih, a zulanawk to iip haih ah; hae tiah na sak nahaeloe Israel kaminawk boih mah nampa to panuet thok ah na sak boeh, tiah thaih o ueloe, na taengah kaom kaminawk boih thacak o tih, tiah a naa.
21And Achitophel said to Absalom: Go in to the concubines of thy father, whom he hath left to keep the house: that when all Israel shall hear that thou hast disgraced thy father, their hands may be strengthened with thee.
22To pongah Absalom hanah imphu ah impoem tetta sak pae o moe, Israel kaminawk boih ih mikhnukah Absalom mah ampa ih zulanawk to iih haih.
22So they spread a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and he went in to his father’s concubines before all Israel.
23To nathuem ah Ahithophel mah paek ih poekhaih loe, Sithaw khaeah dueng moe, hnuk ih lok baktiah oh; David hoi Absalom mah doeh anih mah paek ih poekhaih to Sithaw mah paek ih lok baktiah poek hoi.
23Now the counsel of Achitophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man should consult God: so was all the counsel of Achitophel, both when he was with David, and when he was with Absalom.
