Tongan Bible, Revised West Version
1I command you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his Kingdom:
1Ko ia ʻoku ou fekau ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ʻOtua, mo e ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi, ʻaia te ne fakamaau ʻae moʻui mo e mate ʻi heʻene fakahā mai mo hono puleʻanga;
2preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all patience and teaching.
2Ke ke malangaʻaki ʻae folofola; faʻa fai ʻi he faingamālie, mo e taʻehafaingamālie; valoki, mo fakatonutonu, mo enginaki, ʻi he anga faʻa kātaki kotoa pē mo e akonaki
3For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts,
3Koeʻuhi ʻe hoko ʻae kuonga ʻe ʻikai te nau faʻa kātaki ai ʻae akonaki totonu; ka ʻi he ʻiate kinautolu ʻae telinga veli, te nau fakatokolahi maʻanautolu ʻae kau akonaki ʻo tatau mo ʻenau holi.
4and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn away to fables.
4Pea te nau fakatafoki honau telinga mei he moʻoni, pea tuli tāupau ki he meʻa loi.
5But you be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry.
5Ka ke leʻo pe ʻa koe ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē, kātaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa mamahi, fai ʻae ngaue ʻoe ʻevangeliō, fai ke kakato hoʻo ngaue fakafaifekau.
6For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure has come.
6He ʻoku ou tali pe ki hoku lilingi, pea ʻoku ofi ʻae ʻaho ʻo hoku tukuange.
7I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.
7Kuo u tau ʻae tau lelei, kuo u lavaʻi ʻae fakapuepue, kuo u tauhi maʻu ʻae tui:
8From now on, the crown of righteousness is stored up for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.
8Ngata ai, kuo hilifaki moʻoku ʻae pale ʻoe māʻoniʻoni, ʻaia ʻe foaki mai kiate au ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ʻe he ʻEiki, ko e Fakamaau māʻoniʻoni: pea ʻikai kiate au pe, ka kiate kinautolu kotoa pē foki ʻoku ʻofa ki hono fakahā mai.
9Be diligent to come to me soon,
9Ke ke fakatoʻotoʻo ke haʻu vave kiate au:
10for Demas left me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia; and Titus to Dalmatia.
10He kuo siʻaki au ʻe Temasi; kuo ʻofa ia ki he māmani, pea kuo ʻalu ia ki Tesalonika; ko Kilisini ki Kalētia, mo Taitusi ki Talemetia.
11Only Luke is with me. Take Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service.
11Ko Luke pe ʻoku ʻiate au. Haʻu mo Maʻake, pea mo omi fakataha: he ʻoku ʻaonga ia kiate au ʻi he ngaue fakafaifekau.
12But I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
12Pea kuo u fekau ʻa Tikiko ki ʻEfesō.
13Bring the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus when you come—and the books, especially the parchments.
13ʻOmi ʻae kofu naʻaku tuku mo Kaposi ʻi Taloasi, ʻoka ke ka haʻu, mo e ngaahi tohi, kae tokanga lahi ki he ngaahi tohi kiliʻi manu.
14Alexander the coppersmith did much evil to me. The Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
14Naʻe fai kovi lahi kiate au ʻe ʻAlekisānita, ko e tufunga ngaohi meʻa kapa: ʻe totongi ʻe he ʻEiki kiate ia ʻo hangē ko ʻene ngaahi ngaue:
15Beware of him, for he greatly opposed our words.
15ʻAia ke ke vakai ki ai foki, he ʻoku lahi ʻaupito ʻene fakatanga ki heʻetau lea.
16At my first defense, no one came to help me, but all left me. May it not be held against them.
16ʻI heʻeku fuofua fakamatala, naʻe ʻikai ha tangata ʻe tuʻu mo au, ka naʻa nau liʻaki kotoa pē au: ʻofa ke ʻoua naʻa lau ia kiate kinautolu.
17But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear. So I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
17Ka naʻe tuʻu mo au ʻae ʻEiki, ʻo ne fakamālohiʻi au; koeʻuhi ke fakamoʻoni ʻiate au ʻae malanga, pea ke fanongo ki ai ʻae Senitaile kotoa pē: pea naʻe fakamoʻui au mei he ngutu ʻoe laione.
18And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
18Pea ʻe fakahaofi au ʻe he ʻEiki mei he ngaue kovi kotoa pē, pea te ne fakamoʻui ʻo aʻu ki hono puleʻanga ʻi he langi: ke ʻiate ia ʻae ongoongolelei ʻo taʻengata pea taʻengata. ʻEmeni.
19Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the house of Onesiphorus.
19Tala ʻeku ʻofa kia Pisila mo ʻAkuila, mo e fale ʻo ʻOnesifolo.
20Erastus remained at Corinth, but I left Trophimus at Miletus sick.
20Naʻe nofo ʻa Elasito ʻi Kolinitō: ka naʻaku tuku ʻa Talofimo ʻi Mileto ʻoku mahaki.
21Be diligent to come before winter. Eubulus salutes you, as do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers.
21Ke ke ʻahiʻahi ke haʻu ʻi he teʻeki hokosia ʻae faʻahitaʻu momoko. ʻOku ʻofa atu kiate koe ʻa Iupulo, mo Piutena, mo Laino, mo Kalotia, mo e kāinga kotoa pē.
22The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
22Ke ʻi ho laumālie ʻae ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi. Ke ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻaloʻofa. ʻEmeni.
