1O que era desde o princípio, o que ouvimos, o que vimos com os nossos olhos, o que contemplamos e as nossas mãos tocaram, a respeito do Verbo da vida
1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2(e a vida foi manifestada, e nós a vimos, e testemunhamos, e anunciamos a vocês a vida, a vida eterna, que estava com o Pai e nos foi manifestada);
2And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3o que vimos e ouvimos anunciamos a vocês, para que vocês também tenham comunhão conosco. E a nossa comunhão é com o Pai e com seu Filho, Jesus Cristo.
3We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4E escrevemos estas coisas a vocês, para que a nossa alegria seja completa.
4We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5Esta é a mensagem que dele ouvimos e anunciamos a vocês: que Deus é luz, e nele não há treva alguma.
5And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6Se dissermos que temos comunhão com ele e andarmos nas trevas, mentimos e não falamos a verdade.
6If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7Mas, se andarmos na luz, assim como ele está na luz, temos comunhão uns com os outros, e o sangue de Jesus Cristo, seu Filho, nos purifica de todo pecado.
7But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8Se dissermos que não temos pecado, enganamos a nós mesmos, e a verdade não está em nós.
8If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9Se confessarmos os nossos pecados, ele é fiel e justo para nos perdoar os pecados e nos purificar de toda injustiça.
9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10Se dissermos que não pecamos, fazemos dele um mentiroso, e a sua palavra não está em nós.
10If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
