1ΚΑΙ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τῇ Σινᾷ, ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου, ἐν μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ δευτέρου, ἔτους δευτέρου ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, λέγων,
1On the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Wilderness of Sinai. He said:
2λάβετε ἀρχὴν πάσης συναγωγῆς Ἰσραὴλ κατὰ συγγενείας, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἐξ ὀνόματος αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν·
2“Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.
3πᾶς ἄρσην ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν δυνάμει Ἰσραήλ, ἐπισκέψασθε αὐτοὺς σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν· σὺ καὶ Ἀαρὼν ἐπισκέψασθε αὐτούς.
3You and Aaron are to number those who are twenty years of age or older by their divisions—everyone who can serve in Israel’s army.
4Καὶ μεθʼ ὑμῶν ἔσονται ἕκαστος κατὰ φυλὴν ἑκάστου ἀρχόντων, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν ἔσονται.
4And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.
5Καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν ἀνδρῶν, οἵτινες παραστήσονται μεθʼ ὑμῶν· τῶν Ῥουβὴν, Ἐλισοὺρ υἱὸς Σεδιούρ·
5These are the names of the men who are to assist you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
6Τῶν Συμεὼν, Σαλαμιὴλ υἱὸς Σουρισαδαί.
6from Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
7Τῶν Ἰούδα, Ναασσὼν υἱὸς Ἀμιναδάβ.
7from Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;
8Τῶν Ἰσσάχαρ, Ναθαναὴλ υἱὸς Σωγάρ·
8from Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar;
9Τῶν Ζαβουλὼν, Ἐλιὰβ υἱὸς Χαιλών· Τῶν υἱῶν Ἰωσὴφ τῶν Ἐφραὶμ, Ἐλισαμὰ υἱὸς Ἐμιούδ·
9from Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;
10τῶν Μανασσῆ, Γαμαλιὴλ υἱὸς Φαδασούρ.
10from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;
11Τῶν Βενιαμὶν, Ἀβιδὰν υἱὸς Γαδεωνί.
11from Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
12Τῶν Δὰν, Ἀχιέζερ υἱὸς Ἀμισαδαΐ.
12from Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
13Τῶν Ἀσὴρ, Φαγαϊὴλ, υἱὸς Ἐχράν.
13from Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran;
14Τῶν Γὰδ, Ἐλισὰφ υἱὸς Ῥαγουήλ.
14from Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;

15and from Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”
16Οὗτοι ἐπίκλητοι τῆς συναγωγῆς, ἄρχοντες τῶν φυλῶν κατὰ πατριὰς αὐτῶν, χιλίαρχοι Ἰσραήλ εἰσι.
16These men were appointed from the congregation; they were the leaders of the tribes of their fathers, the heads of the clans of Israel.
17Καὶ ἔλαβε Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν τοὺς ἄνδρας τούτους τοὺς ἀνακληθέντας ἐξ ὀνόματος.
17So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name,
18Καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν συναγωγὴν συνήγαγον ἐν μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ δευτέρου ἔτους· καὶ ἐπηξονοῦσαν κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν, κατὰ πατριὰς αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν,
18and on the first day of the second month they assembled the whole congregation and recorded their ancestry by clans and families, counting one by one the names of those twenty years of age or older,
19ὃν τρόπον συνέταξε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ· καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τοῦ Σινά.
19just as the LORD had commanded Moses. So Moses numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai:
20Καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ υἱοὶ Ῥουβὴν πρωτοτόκου Ἰσραὴλ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,
20From the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
21ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Ῥουβὴν, ἓξ καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.
21those registered to the tribe of Reuben numbered 46,500.

25those registered to the tribe of Gad numbered 45,650.
26Τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσσάχαρ κατὰ συγγενίας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

27ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Ἰσσάχαρ, τέσσαρες καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.
27those registered to the tribe of Judah numbered 74,600.
28Τοῖς υἱοῖς Ζαβουλὼν κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

29those registered to the tribe of Issachar numbered 54,400.
30Τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰωσὴφ υἱοῖς Ἐφραὶμ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

31ἡ ἐπίσκέψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Ἐφραὶμ, τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.
31those registered to the tribe of Zebulun numbered 57,400.
32Τοῖς υἱοῖς Μανασσὴ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ, ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,
32From the sons of Joseph: From the sons of Ephraim, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
33ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Μανασσὴ, δύο καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ διακόσιοι.
33those registered to the tribe of Ephraim numbered 40,500.
34Τοῖς υἱοῖς Βενιαμὶν κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,
34And from the sons of Manasseh, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
35ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Βενιαμὶν, πέντε καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.
35those registered to the tribe of Manasseh numbered 32,200.
36Τοῖς υἱοῖς Γὰδ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

37ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν· ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Γὰδ, πέντε καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑξακόσιοι καὶ πεντήκοντα.
37those registered to the tribe of Benjamin numbered 35,400.
38Τοῖς υἱοῖς Δὰν κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

39those registered to the tribe of Dan numbered 62,700.
40Τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἀσὴρ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,
40From the sons of Asher, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
41ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Ἀσὴρ, μία καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.
41those registered to the tribe of Asher numbered 41,500.
42Τοῖς υἱοῖς Νεφθαλὶ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,
42From the sons of Naphtali, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
43ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Νεφθαλὶ, τρεῖς καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.
43those registered to the tribe of Naphtali numbered 53,400.
44Αὕτη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις, ἣν ἐπεσκέψαντο Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες Ἰσραὴλ δώδεκα ἄνδρες· ἀνὴρ εἷς κατὰ φυλὴν μίαν, κατὰ φυλὴν οἴκων πατριᾶς ἦσαν.
44These were the men numbered by Moses and Aaron, with the assistance of the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.
45Καὶ ἐγένετο πᾶσα ἡ ἐπίσκεψις υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος παρατάξασθαι ἐν Ἰσραὴλ
45So all the Israelites twenty years of age or older who could serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.
46ἑξακόσιαι χιλιάδες καὶ τρισχίλιοι καὶ πεντακόσιοι καὶ πεντήκοντα.
46And all those counted totaled 603,550.
47Οἱ δὲ Λευῖται ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς πατριᾶς αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐπεσκέπησαν ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ.
47The Levites, however, were not numbered along with them by the tribe of their fathers.
48καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν, λέγων,
48For the LORD had said to Moses:
49ὅρα, τὴν φυλὴν Λευὶ οὐ συνεπισκέψῃ, καὶ τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν οὐ λήμῃ, ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ.
49“Do not number the tribe of Levi in the census with the other Israelites.
50Καὶ σὺ ἐπίστησον τοὺς Λευίτας ἐπὶ τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶν ἐν αὐτῇ· ἀροῦσιν αὐτοὶ τὴν σκηνὴν, καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῆς· καὶ αὐτοὶ λειτουργήσουσιν ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ κύκλῳ τῆς σκηνῆς παρεμβαλοῦσι.
50Instead, you are to appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, all its furnishings, and everything in it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles, care for it, and camp around it.
51Καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐξαίρειν τὴν σκηνὴν, καθελοῦσιν αὐτὴν οἱ Λευῖται, καὶ ἐν τῷ παρεμβάλλειν τὴν σκηνὴν, ἀναστήσουσι· καὶ ὁ ἀλλογενῆς ὁ προσπορευόμενος ἀποθανέτω.
51Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever it is to be pitched, the Levites are to set it up. Any outsider who goes near it must be put to death.
52Καὶ παρεμβαλοῦσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ, ἀνὴρ ἐν τῇ ἑαυτοῦ τάξει, καὶ ἀνὴρ κατὰ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ἡγεμονίαν, σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν.
52The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.
53Οἱ δὲ Λευῖται παρεμβαλλέτωσαν ἐναντίοι κύκλῳ τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἁμάρτημα ἐν υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ. καὶ φυλάξουσιν οἱ Λευῖται αὐτοὶ τὴν φυλακὴν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
53But the Levites are to camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony and watch over it, so that no wrath will fall on the congregation of Israel. So the Levites are responsible for the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
54Καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ, κατὰ πάντα ἃ ἐνετείλατο Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ καὶ Ἀαρὼν, οὕτως ἐποίησαν.
54Thus the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
