1And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, in the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Casleu.

2When Sarasar, and Rogommelech, and the men that were with him, sent to the house of God, to entreat the face of the Lord:
3ac in siyuk sin mwet tol ac mwet palu mwe siyuk se inge; “Ya kut enenu in srakna orek asor ke musalla lun Tempul, ac lalo ke malem se aklimekosr, oana kut muta oru ke yac puspis nwe inge uh?”
3To speak to the priests of the house of the Lord of hosts, and to the prophets, saying: Must I weep in the fifth month, or must I sanctify myself as I have now done for many years?
4Ac pa inge kas lun LEUM GOD ma tuku nu sik.
4And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:
5El fahk, “Fahkang nu sin mwet in facl se inge ac mwet tol, lah ke pacl ma elos lalo ac tung ke malem aklimekosr ac akitkosr ke pulan yac itngoul inge, elos tia oru in akfulatyeyu.
5Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: When you fasted, and mourned in the fifth and the seventh month for these seventy years: did you keep a fast unto me?
6Ac ke pacl se ma elos mongo ac nim uh, elos oru na nu ke lungse lalos sifacna.”
6And when you did eat and drink, did you not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?
7Pa inge ma LEUM GOD El tuh fahk nu sin mwet palu meet ah, ke pacl se Jerusalem tuh yohk kasrup la ac sessesla ke mwet, ac ke pacl se ma pukanten mwet tuh muta, tia in acn ma rauneak siti ah mukena, a oayapa ke tafunyen eir ac pe eol layen nu roto ah.
7Are not these the words which the Lord spoke by the hand of the former prophets, when Jerusalem as yet was inhabited, and was wealthy, both itself and the cities round about it, and there were inhabitants towards the south, and in the plain?
8LEUM GOD El sang kas inge nu sel Zechariah:
8And the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, saying:
9“Pacl loes somla nga tuh sang sap soko inge nu sin mwet luk: ‘Kowos in liyaung tuh nununku suwohs in orek, ac tuh kowos in kulang ac pakoten nu sin sie sin sie.
9Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: Judge ye true judgment, and shew ye mercy and compassion every man to his brother.
10Nimet kowos akkemkatuye katinmas, tulik mukaimtal, mwetsac su muta inmasrlowos, ku kutena mwet su enenu. Ac nimet suk inkanek in akkeokye sie sin sie.’
10And oppress not the widow, and the fatherless, and the stranger, and the poor: and let not a man devise evil in his heart against his brother.
11“Tusruktu mwet luk elos likkekelana ac tia lungse porongo. Elos kaliya nunak lalos
11But they would not hearken, and they turned away the shoulder to depart: and they stopped their ears, not to hear.
12ac akupaye insialos in keke oana eot uh. Mweyen elos tia lohng kas in luti su nga supu sin mwet palu su tuh muta in pacl meet ah, ma inge arulana akkasrkusrakyeyu.
12And they made their heart as the adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts sent in his spirit by the hand of the former prophets: so a great indignation came from the Lord of hosts.
13Ke sripen elos tuh tia lipsre ke pacl nga kaskas uh, oru nga tia pacna topkolos ke pacl elos pre uh.
13And it came to pass that as he spoke, and they heard not: so shall they cry, and I will not hear, saith the Lord of hosts.
14Nga pokolosla oana sie paka, tuh elos in muta fin acn lun mwet saya. Acn na wowo se inge tuh filfillana oan, wanginna mwet muta fac.”
14And I dispersed them throughout all kingdoms, which they know not: and the land was left desolate behind them, so that no man passed through or returned: and they changed the delightful land into a wilderness.
