1In kutu pacl tok pus na sin mwet uh, mukul ac mutan, mutawauk in torkaskas lain mwet Jew wialos.
1Now there was a great cry of the people, and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
2Kutu selos fahk mu, “Arulana yohk sou lasr uh. Kut enenu wheat kut in mongo kac tuh kut in moul.”
2And there were some that said: Our sons and our daughters are very many: Yet us take up corn for the price of them, and let us eat and live.
3Kutu pac selos fahk mu, “Kut kitala ima lasr, nien grape lasr, ac lohm sesr in eis wheat fal nu sesr tuh kut in tia misa ke masrinsral.”
3And there were some that said: Let us mortgage our lands, and our vineyards, and our houses, and let us take corn because of the famine.
4Oasr pac kutu selos fahk, “Kut enenu in ngusr mani in akfalye tax lasr nu sin tokosra ke ima lasr ac nien grape lasr.
4And others said: Let us borrow money for the king’s tribute, and let us give up our fields and vineyards:
5Kut oana mwet Jew wiasr, srah sefanna. Tulik natusr uh oapana tulik natulos. A inge, kut oru tuh tulik natusr uh in mwet kohs. Kutu sin acn natusr uh kukakinyukla tari nu ke mwet kohs. A wangin ma kut ku in oru mweyen ima lasr ac nien grape lasr itukla liki kut.”
5And now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren: and our children as their children. Behold we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters, and some of our daughters are bondwomen already, neither have we wherewith to redeem them, and our fields and our vineyards other men possess.
6Ke nga lohng torkaskas lalos, nga kasrkusrak,
6And I was exceedingly angry when I heard their cry according to these words.
7ac nunkauk ma nga in oru kac. Na nga sang kas in kai nu sin mwet kol ac mwet pwapa lun mwet uh ac fahk, “Kowos akkeokye mwet wiowos sifacna ke kowos eis ma laesla yohk liki ma fal.” Nga pangon sie tukeni lulap nu sin mwet uh, in pwapa ke elya se inge.
7And my heart thought with myself: and I rebuked the nobles and magistrates, and said to them: Do you every one exact usury of your brethren? And I gathered together a great assembly against them,
8Na nga fahk, “Ke kuiyasr nufon kut tuh molela mwet Jew wiasr su tuh sifacna kukakunulosla nu sin mwetsac. A inge kowos oru tuh mwet na wiowos in kukakunulosla sifacna nu suwos, mwet Jew.” Ouinge wanginna ma mwet kol elos ku in fahk, na elos tia kas.
8And I said to them: We, as you know, have redeemed according to our ability our brethren the Jews, that were sold to the Gentiles: and will you then sell your brethren, for us to redeem them? And they held their peace, and found not what to answer.
9Na nga fahk, “Ma kowos oru an tia wo! Kowos enenu in akos God ac oru ma suwohs. Fin ouinge, kowos fah tia oru kutena sripa tuh mwet lokoalok lasr, mwet pegan, in ku in akkolukye kut.
9And I said to them: The thing you do is not good: why walk you not in the fear of our God, that we be not exposed to the reproaches of the Gentiles our enemies?
10Nga lela nu sin mwet uh elos in ngusr mani ac mwe mongo sik, na mwet wiyu ac mwet orekma luk elos oru oana nga oru. Inge lela kut nukewa in sisla eisyen ma laesla selos.
10Both I and my brethren, and my servants, have lent money and corn to many: let us all agree not to call for it again; let us forgive the debt that is owing to us.
11Sisla soemoul nukewa lalos nu suwos: finne mani, ku wheat, ku wain, ku oil in olive. Mesinge kowos in folokonang nu selos ima lalos, nien grape lalos, insak olive, ac lohm selos!”
11Restore ye to them this day their fields, and their vineyards, and their oliveyards, and their houses: and the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, which you mere wont to exact of them, give it rather for them.
12Mwet kol elos topuk, “Kut ac oru oana ma kom fahk. Kut ac folokonang ma lalos, ac kut ac tia eis soemoul lalos.” Nga pangoneni mwet tol, ac sap tuh mwet kol in oru fulahk lalos ye mutalos tuh elos fah oru oana ma elos wulela kac inge.
12And they said: We will restore, and we will require nothing of them: and we will do as thou sayest. And I called the priests and took an oath of them, to do according to what I had said.
13Na nga sarukla mwe lohl liki infulwuk, ac osrokla ac fahk, “God El fah osrokla kutena suwos su ac tia karingin wulela la, oana ma kowos liye nga oru inge. God El fah eisla lohm suwos ac ma lowos nukewa, ac tia filiya kutena ma nu suwos.” Mwet nukewa su wi tukeni sac fahk, “Amen!” ac kaksakin LEUM GOD . Ac mwet kol elos karinganangna wuleang lalos.
13Moreover I shook my lap, and said: So may God shake every man that shall not accomplish this word, out of his house, and out of his labours, thus may he be shaken out, and become empty. And all the multitude said: Amen. And they praised God. And the people did according to what was said.
14In yac singoul luo ke nga governor lun acn Judah, mutawauk ke yac aklongoul nwe ke yac se aktolngoul luo ma Artaxerxes el tokosra fulat, nga ac sou luk tiana eis kitakat ke mwe mongo su fal nu sin sie governor in eis.
14And from the day, in which the king commanded me to be governor in the land of Juda, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, for twelve years, I and my brethren did not eat the yearly allowance that was due to the governors.
Tusruktu nga oru siena, mweyen nga akfulatye God.
15But the former governors that had been before me, were chargeable to the people, and took of them in bread, and wine, and in money every day forty sides: and their officers also oppressed the people. But I did not so for the fear of God.
16Nga sang kuiyuk nufon in sifil musai pot uh, ac tia suk in eis kutena acn nu sik sifacna. Mwet kulansap luk nukewa elos wi pac orekma ke musa uh.
16Moreover I built in the work of the wall, and I bought no land, and all my servants were gathered together to the work.
17Len nukewa mwet Jew siofok lumngaul wi mwet kol lalos elos mongo ke tepu luk, sayen pacna mwet su tuku liki mutunfacl ma apinkutla.
17The Jews also and the magistrates to the number of one hundred and fifty men, were at my table, besides them that came to us from among the nations that were round about us.
18Kais sie len nga srukak cow soko, sheep na wowo onkosr, ac won na pus, ac len singoul nukewa nga srukak pac wain sasu nimen mwet uh. Tuh ke sripen nga etu lah toasr ma mwet uh enenu in akfalye, oru nga tiana suk ke ma fal nga in eis ke wal lun governor.
18And there was prepared for me day by day one ox, and six choice rams, besides fowls, and once in ten days I gave store of divers wines, and many other things: yet I did not require my yearly allowance as governor: for the people were very much impoverished.
19Nga siyuk sum, O God, tuh kom in esamyu ac akinsewowoyeyu ke ma nukewa ma nga oru nu sin mwet inge.
19Remember me, O my God, for good according to all that I have done for this people.
