1And behold there came a man of God out of Juda, by the word of the Lord to Bethel, when Jeroboam was standing upon the altar, and burning incense.
1Pathen kah hlang he BOEIPA ol neh Judah lamloh Bethel la pakcak pawk. Te vaengah Jeroboam tah hmueih phum ham hmueihtuk taengah pai.
2And he cried out against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said: O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord: Behold a child shall be born to the house of David, Josias by name, and he shall immolate upon thee the priests of the high places, who now burn incense upon thee, and he shall burn men’s bones upon thee.
2Te vaengah BOEIPA ol lamloh hmueihtuk te a doek tih, “Hmueihtuk, hmueihtuk, BOEIPA loh he ni a thui, David imkhui ham capa pakhat, a ming ah Josiah om coeng ke. Te dongah nang soah hmueih aka phum hmuensang khosoih rhoek te nang soah a ngawn vetih hlang rhuh ni nang soah a tih eh?,” a ti nah.
3And he gave a sign the same day, saying: This shall be the sign, that the Lord hath spoken: Behold the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
3Te khohnin ah kopoekrhai a paek tih, “BOEIPA loh he kah kopoekrhai he a thui, hmueihtuk he paeng tih a sokah maehhloi luk pawn ni he,” a ti nah.
4And when the king had heard the word of the man of God, which he had cried out against the altar in Bethel, he stretched forth his hand from the altar, saying: Lay hold on him. And his hand which he stretched forth against him withered: and he was not able to draw it back again to him.
4Bethel ah hmueihtuk aka pang thil Pathen hlang kah ol te manghai loh a yaak. Te dongah Jeroboam loh hmueihtuk dong lamloh a kut a thueng tih, “Anih ke tu uh,” a ti nah. Tedae anih taengla a kut a thueng te a koh pah tih amah taengla yuek thai voel pawh.
5The altar also was rent, and the ashes were poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given before in the word of the Lord.
5Te phoeiah BOEIPA ol lamloh Pathen hlang kah a paek kopoekrhai bangla hmueihtuk te paeng tih maehhloi khaw hmueihtuk dong lamloh luk.
6And the king said to the man of God: Entreat the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me. And the man of God besought the face of the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored to him, and it became as it was before.
6Te daengah manghai loh a doo tih Pathen kah hlang taengah, “BOEIPA na Pathen mikhmuh ah nguek mai. Kai hamla la thangthui lamtah kai he ka kut hoeih pawn saeh,” a ti nah. Pathen kah hlang te BOEIPA mikhmuh ah a nguek daengah manghai te a kut a yueh thai tih lamhma kah thim la a om pah.
7And the king said to the man of God: Come home with me to dine, and I will make thee presents.
7Manghai loh Pathen kah hlang te, “Kamah taengah im la ham paan lamtah na lungbuei duel dae, nang te kutdoe kam paek bitni,” a ti nah.
8And the man of God answered the king: If thou wouldst give me half thy house I will not go with thee, nor eat bread, nor drink water in this place:
8Tedae Pathen kah hlang loh manghai te, “Kai he na im rhakthuem nam pae cakhaw nang taengla ka mop mahpawh. He hmuen ah buh khaw ka ca mahpawh, tui khaw ka o mahpawh.
9For so it was enjoined me by the word of the Lord commanding me: Thou shalt not eat bread nor drink water, nor return by the same way that thou camest.
9BOEIPA ol loh kai n'uen tangloeng tih, 'Buh khaw ca boeh, tui khaw o boeh, na caeh long lamloh mael boeh,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
10So he departed by another way, and returned not by the way that he came into Bethel.
10Te dongah longpuei a tloe longah cet tih Bethel la aka pawk longpuei longah mael voel pawh.
11Now a certain old prophet dwelt in Bethel, and his sons came to him and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: and they told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.
11Te vaengah tonghma patong pakhat tah Bethel ah kho a sak. Te dongah a capa te a pawk vaengah Pathen kah hlang loh Bethel ah hnin at neh bitat cungkuem a saii khaw, manghai taengah athui ol te khaw, a taengah a thui pah tih a napa ham a daek pa uh.
12And their father said to them: What way went he? His sons shewed him the way by which the man of God went, who came out of Juda.
12Te vaengah a napa loh amih te, “Me long nim a caeh,” a ti nah. Te dongah Judah lamkah aka pawk Pathen hlang kah a caeh nah longpuei te a ca rhoek loh a tueng uh.
13And he said to his sons: Saddle me the ass. And when they had saddled him, he got up,
13A ca rhoek te, “Kai ham laak te khit uh,” a ti nah. Te dongah anih ham laak te a khih pa uh tih a soah ngol.
14And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under a turpentine tree: and he said to him: Art thou the man of God that camest from Juda? He answered: I am.
14Te phoeiah Pathen hlang hnuk te a vai hatah rhokael hmuiah a ngol te hmuh. Te dongah anih te, “Nang he Judah lamkah aka pawk Pathen kah hlang ni nama?” a ti nah hatah, “Kai ni ue,” a ti nah.
15And he said to him: Come home with me, to eat bread.
15Te phoeiah anih te, “Kai taengah im la halo lamtah buh ca dae,” a ti nah.
16But he said: I must not return, nor go with thee, neither will I eat bread, nor drink water in this place:
16Tedae, “Nang taengah ka mael ham neh na taengah pongpa ham ka coeng moenih. He hmuen ah buh ka ca mahpawh, nang taengkah tui khaw ka o mahpawh.
17Because the Lord spoke to me in the word of the Lord, saying: Thou shalt not eat bread, and thou shalt not drink water there, nor return by the way thou wentest.
17Ka taengkah ol he BOEIPA ol dongkah ni. Teah te buh ca boeh, tui khaw o boeh, na lo vaengkah longpuei dongah na mael vaengah cet boeh,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
18He said to him: I also am a prophet like unto thee: and an angel spoke to me in the word of the Lord, saying: Bring him back with thee into thy house, that he may eat bread, and drink water. He deceived him,
18Te vaengah amah te, “Kai khaw nang bangla tonghma van ni. Puencawn loh kai taengah BOEIPA ol neh a thui tih, 'Anih te namah neh na im la mael puei lamtah, buh ca dae saeh, tui khaw o saeh,’ a ti,” a ti nah tih a taengah basa.
19And brought him back with him: so he ate bread and drank water in his house.
19Te dongah a taengla mael tih a im ah buh a caak, tui khaw a ok pah.
20And as they sat at table, the word of the Lord came to the prophet that brought him back:
20Te phoeiah amih te caboei dongah ngol uh. Te vaengah BOEIPA kah ol anih aka khuen tonghma taengah pai.
21And he cried out to the man of God who came out of Juda, saying: Thus saith the Lord: Because thou hast not been obedient to the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
21Te vaengah Judah lamkah aka pawk Pathen hlang te a o tih, “BOEIPA ol na koek dongah BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Na Pathen BOEIPA loh nang n'uen bangla olpaek te na ngaithuen moenih.
22And hast returned and eaten bread, and drunk water in the place wherein he commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat bread, nor drink water, thy dead body shall not be brought into the sepulchre of thy fathers.
22Na mael tih namah taengah, 'Buh ca boeh, tui o boeh,’ a ti nah hmuen ah buh na caak tih, tui na ok dongah na rhok loh na pa rhoek kah phuel te paan mahpawh,” a ti nah.
23And when he had eaten and drunk, he saddled his ass for the prophet, whom he had brought back.
23Buh a caak phoei neh a ok phoeiah tah anih aka mael puei tonghma loh anih ham laak a khih pah.
24And when he was gone, a lion found him in the way, and killed him, and his body was cast in the way: and the ass stood by him, and the lion stood by the dead body.
24Tedae a caeh vaengah anih te sathueng loh longpuei ah a mah tih anih te a duek sak. A rhok te long ah a voeih tih a om vaengah laak te a taengah pai. Sathueng khaw rhok taengah pai.
25And behold, men passing by saw the dead body cast in the way, and the lion standing by the body. And they came and told it in the city, wherein that old prophet dwelt.
25Te vaengah hlang aka cet loh longpuei ah rhok yalh tih rhok taengah sathueng a pai te lawt a hmuh uh. Te dongah tonghma patong a om nah khopuei ah a thui uh.
26And when that prophet, who had brought him back out of the way, heard of it, he said: It is the man of God, that was disobedient to the mouth of the Lord, and the Lord hath delivered him to the lion, and he hath torn him, and killed him according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke to him.
26Te vaengah longpueng lamloh anih aka mael puei tonghma loh a yaak tih, “BOEIPA ol aka koek Pathen kah hlang pai ni, a taengah a thui pah BOEIPA ol bangla BOEIPA loh anih he sathueng taengla a paek dongah a phuet tih a duek sak,” a ti.
27And he said to his sons: Saddle me an ass. And when they had saddled it,
27Te phoeiah a ca rhoek te, “Kai hamla laak te khit uh,” a ti nah tih a khih pa uh.
28And he was gone, he found the dead body cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcass: the lion had not eaten of the dead body, nor hurt the ass.
28A caeh vaengah a rhok te long ah ana voeih tih rhok taengah laak neh sathueng a pai te a hmuh. Sathueng loh rhok te ca pawt tih laak te khaw nget pawh.
29And the prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and going back brought it into the city of the old prophet, to mourn for him.
29Tonghma loh Pathen hlang kah rhok te a pom tih laak dongla a tloeng phoeiah a mael puei. Te phoeiah rhaengsae ham neh up hamla tonghma patong kah khopuei la a pawk puei.
30And he laid his dead body in his own sepulchre: and they mourned over him, saying: Alas! alas! my brother.
30A rhok te amah phuel ah a yalh sak vaengah, “Anunae kai mana aih,” tila a rhaengsae thil.
31And when they had mourned over him, he said to his sons: When I am dead, bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried: lay my bones beside his bones.
31Anih te a up phoeiah tah a ca rhoek te a uen tih, “Ka duek vaengah kai he Pathen hlang up nah phuel ah ng'up uh. Anih rhuh taengah ka rhuh he yalh saeh.
32For assuredly the word shall come to pass which he hath foretold in the word of the Lord against the altar that is in Bethel: and against all the temples of the high places, that are in the cities of Samaria.
32BOEIPA ol lamloh Bethel kah hmueihtuk ham neh Samaria khopuei rhoek kah hmuensang im boeih ham a doek ol te thoeng rhoe thoeng bitni ,” a ti nah.
33After these words Jeroboam came not back from his wicked way: but on the contrary he made of the meanest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he filled his hand, and he was made a priest of the high places.
33He ol phoeiah khaw Jeroboam he a longpuei thae lamloh a mael moenih. Tedae a bal vaengah khobawt pilnam khui lamkah te hmuensang khosoih la a khueh. A kut loh a pha rhang la aka omtoem tah hmuensang khosoih la ana om van.
34And for this cause did the house of Jeroboam sin, and was cut off and destroyed from the face of the earth.
