1Some time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Metheg-ammah from the hand of the Philistines.
1ORA, dopo queste cose, Davide percosse i Filistei, e li abbassò; e prese Metegamma di mano de' Filistei.
2David also defeated the Moabites, made them lie down on the ground, and measured them off with a cord. He measured off with two lengths those to be put to death, and with one length those to be spared. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought him tribute.
2Percosse ancora i Moabiti, e fattili giacere in terra, li misurò con una funicella; e ne misurò due parti per farli morire, e una parte intiera per salvar loro la vita. Ed i Moabiti furono renduti soggetti a Davide, e tributari.
3David also defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, who had marched out to restore his dominion along the Euphrates River.
3Davide, oltre a ciò, percosse Hadadezer, figliuolo di Rehob, re di Soba, andando per ridurre il paese sotto alla sua mano fino al fiume Eufrate.
4David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots.
4E Davide gli prese mille settecent'uomini a cavallo, e ventimila uomini a piè. E Davide tagliò i garetti a' cavalli di tutti i carri; ma ne riserbò i cavalli di cento carri.
5When the Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand men.
5Ora i Siri di Damasco erano venuti per soccerrere Hadadezer, re di Soba. E Davide percosse di essi ventiduemila uomini.
6Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to David and brought him tribute. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
6Poi pose guernigioni nella Siria di Damasco; e i Siri furono renduti soggetti a Davide, e tributari. E il Signore salvava Davide, dovunque egli andava.
7And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
7E Davide prese gli scudi d'oro ch'erano de' servitori di Hadadezer, e li portò in Gerusalemme.
8And from Betah and Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a large amount of bronze.

9When King Toi of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer,
9Or Toi, re di Hamat, avendo udito che Davide avea sconfitto tutto l'esercito di Hadadezer,
10he sent his son Joram to greet King David and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war with Toi. Joram brought with him articles of silver and gold and bronze,
10mandò al re Davide Ioram, suo figliuolo, per salutarlo, e per benedirlo, di ciò ch'egli avea guerreggiato contro a Hadadezer, e l'avea sconfitto; imperocchè Hadadezer avea guerra aperta con Toi. E Ioram portò seco vasellamenti d'argento, e vasellamenti di oro e vasellamenti di rame.
11and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had dedicated from all the nations he had subdued—
11E il re Davide consacrò eziandio quelli al Signore, insieme con l'argento, e con l'oro, che egli avea consacrato della preda di tutte le nazioni ch'egli avea soggiogate;
12from Edom and Moab, from the Ammonites and Philistines and Amalekites, and from the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
12dei Siri, e de' Moabiti, e de' figliuoli di Ammon, e de' Filistei, e degli Amalechiti; e della preda di Hadadezer, figliuolo di Rehob, re di Soba.
13And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
13Davide ancora acquistò fama di ciò che, ritornando dalla rotta de' Siri, sconfisse diciottomila uomini nella Valle del sale.
14He placed garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.

15Thus David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people:
15Così Davide regnò sopra tutto Israele, facendo ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder;
16E Ioab, figliuolo di Seruia, era sopra l'esercito; e Iosafat, figliuolo di Ahilud, era Cancelliere;
17Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Seraiah was the scribe;
17e Sadoc, figliuolo di Ahitub, ed Ahimelec, figliuolo di Ebiatar, erano Sacerdoti; e Seraia era Segretario;
18Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and David’s sons were priestly leaders.
18e Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, era capo dei Cheretei, e de' Peletei; ed i figliuoli di Davide erano principi.
