1The descendants of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.
1Καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰούδα, Φαρὲς, Ἐσρὼμ, καὶ Χαρμὶ, καὶ Ὢρ, Σουβὰλ,
2Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath was the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.
2καὶ Ῥάδα υἱὸς αὐτοῦ· καὶ Σουβὰλ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἰέθ· καὶ Ἰὲθ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἀχιμαῒ, καὶ τὸν Λαάδ· αὗται αἱ γενέσεις τοῦ Ἀραθί.
3These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. And their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
3Καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Αἰτὰμ, Ἰεζραὴλ, καὶ Ἰεσμὰν, καὶ Ἰεβδάς· καὶ ὄνομα ἀδελφῆς αὐτῶν Ἐσηλεββών.
4Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and the father of Bethlehem.
4Καὶ Φανουὴλ πατὴρ Γεδὼρ, καὶ Ἰαζὴρ πατὴρ Ὠσάν· οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ὢρ τοῦ πρωτοτόκου Ἐφραθὰ πατρὸς Βαιθαλαέν.
5Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
5Καὶ τῷ Ἀσοὺρ πατρὶ Θεκωὲ ἦσαν δύο γυναῖκες, Ἀωδὰ, καὶ Θοαδά.
6Naarah bore to him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the descendants of Naarah.
6Καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ Ἀωδὰ τὸν Ὠχαία, καὶ τὸν Ἠφὰλ, καὶ τὸν Θαιμὰν, καὶ τὸν Ἀασθήρ· πάντες οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἀωδᾶς.
7The sons of Helah were Zereth, Zohar, Ethnan,
7Καὶ υἱοὶ Θοαδᾶς, Σερὲθ, καὶ Σαὰρ, καὶ Ἐσθανάμ.
8and Koz, who was the father of Anub and Zobebah and of the clans of Aharhel son of Harum.
8Καὶ Κωὲ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἐνὼβ, καὶ τὸν Σαβαθά· καὶ γεννήσεις ἀδελφοῦ Ῥηχὰβ, υἱοῦ Ἰαρίν.
9Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
9Καὶ ἦν Ἰγαβὴς ἔνδοξος ὑπὲρ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἡ μήτηρ ἐκάλεσε τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰγαβὴς, λέγουσα, ἔτεκον ὡς γαβής.
10And Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only You would bless me and enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from harm, so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted the request of Jabez.
10Καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο Ἰγαβὴς τὸν Θεὸν Ἰσραὴλ, λέγων, ἐὰν εὐλογῶν εὐλογήσῃς με, καὶ πληθύνῃς τὰ ὅριά μου, καὶ ᾖ ἡ χείρ σου μετʼ ἐμοῦ, καὶ ποιήσῃς γνῶσιν τοῦ μὴ ταπεινῶσαί με· καὶ ἐπήγαγεν ὁ Θεὸς πάντα ὅσα ᾐτήσατο.
11Chelub the brother of Shuhah was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
11Καὶ Χαλὲβ πατὴρ Ἀσχὰ ἐγέννησε τὸν Μαχίρ· οὗτος πατὴρ Ἀσσαθών.
12Eshton was the father of Beth-rapha, of Paseah, and of Tehinnah the father of Ir-nahash. These were the men of Recah.
12Ἐγέννησε τὸν Βαθραίαν, καὶ τὸν Βεσσηὲ, καὶ τὸν Θαιμὰν πατέρα πόλεως Ναᾶς ἀδελφοῦ Ἐσελὼμ τοῦ Κενεζί· οὗτοι ἄνδρες Ῥηχάβ.
13The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai.
13Καὶ υἱοὶ Κενὲζ, Γοθονιὴλ, καὶ Σαραΐα· καὶ υἱοὶ Γοθονιὴλ, Ἀθάθ.
14Meonothai was the father of Ophrah, and Seraiah was the father of Joab, the father of those living in Ge-harashim, which was given this name because its people were craftsmen.
14Καὶ Μαναθὶ ἐγέννησε τὸν Γοφερά. καὶ Σαραΐα ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἰωβὰβ, πατέρα Ἀγεαδδαῒρ, ὅτι τέκτονες ἦσαν.
15The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.
15Καὶ υἱοὶ Χαλὲβ υἱοῦ Ἰεφοννὴ, Ἢρ, Ἀδὰ, καὶ Νοόμ· καὶ υἱοὶ Ἀδὰ, Κενέζ.
16The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
16Καὶ υἱοὶ Ἀλεὴλ, Ζὶβ, καὶ Ζεφὰ, καὶ Θιριὰ, καὶ Ἐσερήλ.
17The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. And Mered’s wife Bithiah gave birth to Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
17Καὶ υἱοὶ Ἐσρὶ, Ἰεθὲρ, Μωρὰδ, καὶ Ἄφερ, καὶ Ἰαμών· καὶ ἐγέννησεν Ἰεθὲρ τὸν Μαρὼν, καὶ τὸν Σεμεῒ, καὶ τὸν Ἰεσβὰ πατέρα Ἐσθαίμων·
18These were the children of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah. Mered also took a Judean wife, who gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.
18Καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ αὕτη Ἀδία, ἔτεκε τὸν Ἰάρεδ πατέρα Γεδὼρ, καὶ τὸν Ἀβὲρ πατέρα Σωχὼν, καὶ τὸν Χετιὴλ πατέρα Ζαμών· καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Βετθία θυγατρὸς Φαραὼ, ἣν ἔλαβε Μωρήδ.
19The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and of Eshtemoa the Maacathite.
19Καὶ υἱοὶ γυναικὸς τῆς Ἰδουίας ἀδελφῆς Ναχαῒμ πατρὸς Κεϊλὰ, Γαρμὶ, καὶ Ἐσθαιμὼν Νωχαθί.
20The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. The descendants of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-zoheth.
20Καὶ υἱοὶ Σεμὼν, Αμνὼν, καὶ Ἀνὰ υἱὸς Φανὰ, καὶ Ἰνών· καὶ υἱοὶ Σεῒ, Ζωὰν, καὶ υἱοὶ Ζωάβ.
21The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah and the clans of the linen workers at Beth-ashbea,
21Υἱοὶ Σηλὼμ υἱοῦ Ἰούδα, Ἢρ πατὴρ Ληχὰβ, καὶ Λααδὰ πατὴρ Μαρισά· καὶ γενέσεις οἰκείων Ἐφραθαβὰκ τῷ οἴκῳ Ἐσοβὰ,
22Jokim, the men of Cozeba, and Joash and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and Jashubi-lehem. (These names are from ancient records.)
22καὶ Ἰωακὶμ, καὶ ἄνδρες Χωζηβὰ, καὶ Ἰωὰς, καὶ Σαρὰφ, οἳ κατῴκησαν ἐν Μωάβ· καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν αὐτος ἀβεδηρὶν, ἀθουκιΐμ·
23These were the potters who lived at Netaim and Gederah. They lived there in the service of the king.
23Οὗτοι κεραμεῖς οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν Ἀταῒμ καὶ Γαδιρὰ μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως, ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ ἐνίσχυσαν, καὶ κατῴκησαν ἐκεῖ.
24The descendants of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul.
24Υἱοὶ Σεμεὼν, Ναμουὴλ, καὶ Ἰαμὶν, Ἰαρὶβ, Ζαρὲς, Σαοὺλ,
25The sons of Shaul: Shallum, Mibsam, and Mishma.
25Σαλὲμ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ, Μαβασὰμ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ, Μασμὰ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ,
26The sons of Mishma: Hammuel, Zaccur, and Shimei.
26Σεμεῒ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ·
27Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many children, so their whole clan did not become as numerous as the sons of Judah.
27Τῷ Σεμεῒ υἱοὶ ἑκκαίδεκα, καὶ θυγατέρες ἕξ· καὶ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτῶν οὐκ ἦσαν υἱοὶ πολλοί· καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ πατριαὶ αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐπλεόνασαν ὡς υἱοὶ Ἰούδα.
28They lived in Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual,
28Καὶ κατῴκησαν ἐν Βηρσαβεὲ, καὶ Μωλαδὰ, καὶ ἐν Ἑσερσουὰλ,
29Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,
29καὶ ἐν Βαλαὰ, καὶ ἐν Αἰσὲμ, καὶ ἐν Θωλὰδ,
30Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,
30καὶ ἐν Ἑρμὰ, καὶ ἐν Σικελὰγ,
31Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until the reign of David.
31καὶ ἐν Βαιθμαριμὼθ, καὶ Ἡμισουσεωσὶν, καὶ οἴκου Βαρουσεωρίμ· αὗται αἱ πόλεις αὐτῶν ἕως βασιλέως Δαυίδ.
32And their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan—five towns—
32Καὶ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν Αἰτὰν, καὶ Ἢν, Ῥεμνὼν, καὶ Θοκκὰ, καὶ Αἰσὰρ, πόλεις πέντε.
33and all their surrounding villages as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogical record:
33Καὶ πᾶσαι ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν κύκλῳ τῶν πόλεων τούτων ἕως Βάαλ· αὕτη κατάσχεσις αὐτῶν, καὶ ὁ καταλοχισμὸς αὐτῶν.
34Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah,
34Καὶ Μοσωβὰβ, καὶ Ἰεμολὸχ, καὶ Ἰωσία υἱὸς Ἀμασία,
35Joel, Jehu son of Joshibiah (son of Seraiah, son of Asiel),
35καὶ Ἰωὴλ, καὶ Ἰηοὺ υἱὸς Ἀσαβία, υἱὸς Σαραῦ, υἱὸς Ἀσιὴλ,
36Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,
36καὶ Ἐλιωναῒ, καὶ Ἰωκαβὰ, καὶ Ἰασουία, καὶ Ἀσαΐα, καὶ Ἰεδιὴλ, καὶ Ἰσμαὴλ, καὶ Βαναίας, καὶ Ζουζὰ υἱὸς Σαφαῒ,
37and Ziza son of Shiphi (son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah).
37υἱοῦ Ἀλὼν, υἱοῦ Ἰεδιὰ, υἱοῦ Σεμρὶ, υἱοῦ Σαμαίου.
38These men listed by name were the leaders of their clans. Their families increased greatly,
38Οὗτοι οἱ διελθόντες ἐν ὀνόμασιν ἀρχόντων ἐν ταῖς γενέσεσιν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐν οἴκοις πατριῶν αὐτῶν ἐπληθύνθησαν εἰς πλῆθος.
39and they journeyed to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, in search of pasture for their flocks.
39Καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν Γέραρα ἕως τῶν ἀνατολῶν τῆς Γαὶ, τοῦ ζητῆσαι νομὰς τοῖς κτήνεσιν αὐτῶν.
40There they found rich, good pasture, and the land was spacious, peaceful, and quiet; for some Hamites had lived there formerly.
40Καὶ εὗρον νομὰς πλεὶονας καὶ ἀγαθάς· καὶ ἡ γῆ πλατεῖα ἐναντίον αὐτῶν, καὶ εἰρήνη καὶ ἡσυχία, ὅτι ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Χὰμ τὼν κατοικούντων ἐκεῖ ἔμπροσθεν.
41These who were noted by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites and Meunites there in their dwellings, devoting them to destruction even to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.
41Καὶ ἤλθοσαν οὗτοι οἱ γεγραμμένοι ἐπʼ ὀνόματος ἐν ἡμέραις Ἐζεκίου βασιλέως Ἰούδα, καὶ ἐπάταξαν τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς Μιναίους οὕς εὕροσαν ἐκεῖ, καὶ ἀνεθεμάτισαν αὐτοὺς ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης· καὶ ᾤκησαν ἀντʼ αὐτῶν, ὅτι νομαὶ τοῖς κτήνεσιν αὐτῶν ἐκεῖ.
42And five hundred of these Simeonites led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, went to Mount Seir
42Καὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Συμεὼν ἐπορεύθησαν εἰς ὄρος Σηὶρ ἄνδρες πεντακόσιοι, καὶ Φαλαεττία, καὶ Νωαδία, καὶ Ῥαφαΐα, καὶ Ὀζιὴλ υἱοὶ Ἰεσὶ ἄρχοντες αὐτῶν.
43and struck down the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped. And they have lived there to this day.
43Καὶ ἐπάταξαν τοὺς καταλοίπους τοὺς καταλειφθέντας τοῦ Ἀμαλὴκ ἕως ἡμέρας ταύτης.
